1983年豊橋技術科学大学大学院修士課程電気電子工学専攻修了。同年住友電気工業株式会社 伊丹研究所研究員。高温超伝導薄膜の高品質化の研究に従事。90年〜95年（株）超伝導センサ研究所 主任研究員兼務。世界で初めて高温超伝導マルチチャンネル心磁計測システムの開発に成功。91年博士(工学)の学位取得(大阪大学)。95年住友電気工（株）退職，同年豊橋技術科学大学工学部助教授。96年〜97年カリフォルニア州立大学バークレー校物理学科客員研究員。02年より豊橋技術科学大学工学部教授。18年より副学長（研究力強化担当）。高温超伝導SQUID磁気センサを利用した生体検査応用、DNA検出、食品異物検査システム、非破壊検査装置などの研究に従事。

Saburo Tanaka, Ph. D., received a B, E. and M .E, from the Toyohashi University of Technology in 1981 and 1983, respectively. He received his Ph, D. degree in 1991 from Osaka University, Japan. Since 1987, Tanaka has been involved in the research of high-temperature superconductors at ltami Research Laboratory, Sumitomo Electric Co., Ltd, He was engaged in the development of multi-channel high-Tc SQUID systems at the Superconducting Sensor Laboratory from 1991 to 1995. He was also a visiting research associate of Professor John Clarke’s group in the Department of Physics at UC Berkeley from 1996 to 1997. Currently, Tanaka is a professor and a vice president at Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan. He has more than 20 years of research experience in high-temperature SQUID applications, which extends through-field, and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals. Tanaka has filed more than 350 patents in Japan, and from these patented inventions, more than 70 were granted by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
